Why this coffee is special

Exceptional coffee
has a story

Ángel Ortega farms at Finca Miramar in the hills above San Agustín, Huila, where the mornings come in misty and the soil is volcanic. He is a second-generation grower, and this washed lot of Pink Bourbon and Gesha is what he has been working toward: selective picking, careful fermentation, nothing rushed. The cup leads with tropical fruit and honeyed sweetness, mango and papaya mostly, with jasmine and sugarcane underneath and a delicate vanilla floral note through the middle. The mouthfeel is dense and syrupy and the finish holds. It is clean enough for pour-over and filter and sweet enough to work as a light espresso. Huila produces some of Colombia's most distinctive coffees, and this lot is a clear example of why.
